We Had Fun Today

Today was one of those days that I got absolutely nothing accomplished, but it was a good day. For those of you who know how neurotic I can be about "getting things done", you will appreciate the fact that the first sentence is a oxymoron.

It all started with our weekly trip to the bank. Maya looks forward to this all week because she gets a lollipop from Katie, our next door neighbor, who works there. Maya just had to wear her suspenders with the rainbow hearts on them to show Katie, along with her snow man socks and her Blues Clues t-shirt. Normally this ensemble would drive me nuts, but today I figured, "who cares?"

After a very messy purple lollipop, instead of rushing home to clean, I decided to stop at the mall which has an small indoor playground. Maya was so excited that you would have thought Christmas showed up early this year! She found another little girl her age right away, and they ran around like very polite monkeys at high volume. For example, the little girl would scream, "Are you done with that?" and Maya would scream back,"Yes, you can play with it!"

After the playground we stopped by Oma and Opa's new condo for a chat before heading off to lunch and a nap. Since Chad was working , they invited us out to dinner at a resteronk (Maya's pronunciation of restaurant) and finished off the evening with a little play and a snack.

While it was nothing out of the ordinary, what made this all so great was this - as I was putting Maya to bed, she looked up at me with those big blue eyes and said with a smile, "We had fun today, didn't we mommy?"

Yes sweetheart, we did.
