It is very cold out there, I run the heat just enough to keep the plants from freezing, so obviously it's some sort of winter blooming plant.
Obviously I do best when I leave my plants to die!

It looks like some sort of daylily to me.
Yup... I'm going with the daylily theory too.
And the same thing - neglect - goes for bougainvillea.
Hate the thorns. Ignore the plant. Don't water. Don't fertilize. And it blooms like mad! Go figure.
