I'm so glad it's Thursday

This is the "end" of my week, and thank goodness for that because I don't think I could have handled one more 8 year old bouncing around the room and swinging his headphones around his head like a lasso. As a teacher, I'm not sure which is worse. Either the week before a holiday when the kids are so hyped up that getting them to focus is something I accomplish only through the most daring of feats and wittiest of jokes. (ok the jokes aren't that witty, most of my audience is under the age of ten...) Or the week after, when the let down has hit and they are all letharigic from too much sugar and communicating in shrugs and grunts.

Both weeks require willpower and patience beyond the normal human powers. Which is why at the end of them, I have none left, for anyone. So I'm sure my family is also happy to see the holidays go so I can return to being mildly annoyed at them instead of a raging lunatic. So I hope you all enjoy your Easter holiday and may you bestow some of your left over candy on the teachers in your children's lives. We need the extra sugar to get through the let down ourselves.

Good call on giving teachers candy I always loved gifts of candy when I was teaching. Somedays it was the only thing that kept me going.
