Two more yards to go...

I only managed to get three yards of mulch spread today. I waited too long this year before getting started and hence created a lot more work for myself. I have lots of tender little plants coming up that can easily be crushed by flying clumps of wood. So I had to make smaller piles and then spread it around by hand. Very time consuming, but I was so excited to see all the little green shoots coming out of the ground. I was hoping to get finished today, but by the time Chad got home to help, the farm closed and we couldn't get the last two yards of mulch. So, the Rhododendrons will just have to wait. While I was raking out the dead from underneath them, I discovered a birds nest inside them, and so did my cat, Uma. After several unconvincing conversations about how cat food is so much better than baby birds, I finally had to threaten him with the loss of his tail. I'm pretty sure he only pretended to agree with me because I was brandishing a pitch fork at the time. I can't be angry with him for being a cat, but I can't seem to love the birds any less either, so I may have to put netting up under the bushes to keep him out.

I understand its hard to be angry at an animal for being well an animal but I still can't watch the PBS programs where the lion gets the gazel.

Keep mulching.

XXXOOO's

Hey you got my mind moving when you said my photos should be in a childrens books. I think You may have come up with a solution to a question I have had most of my life. "What do I want to be when I grow up." Love you much!
